Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 Grand Launch

MyFest 2015 Grand Launch took place on the 10th January, 2015 at Dataran Merdeka in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia where it is also expected to be launched by the Malaysian Prime Minister, YAB Dato' Sri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak at 8.00 pm here.

Update 1st Jan 2015 - The MyFest 2015 Grand Launch is postponed to a later date according to Tourism Malaysia in light of the recent floods that have hit several states around Malaysia.

The implementation of MyFest 2015 was originally announced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia in his recent 2015 Budget speech.

This campaign will continue to boost the tourism sector and maintain Malaysia as the top of the mind tourist destination with a target of receiving 29.4 million tourist arrivals and RM89 billion tourist receipts.

The Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 is also a follow-up campaign from the current Visit Malaysia Year 2014 or VMY 2014

The Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 campaign will complement the Malaysia Tourism Transformation Plan (MTTP) where the country has set a target of 36 million tourist arrivals with RM168 billion tourist receipts by the year 2020.

MyFest 2015 has also be themed "Endless Celebrations" where the year-long calendar is packed with festivities of every ethnic, cultural, festival, international acclaimed events, eco-tourism events, arts, music showcases, food promotions and other themed events which is available all throughout the country. 

On the same day of the MyFest 2015 Launch, MOTAC, together with Kuala Lumpur City Hall, will also launch the KL Festivals Lights 2015, which will take place at Dataran Merdeka for one week until 17 January 2015.

Conclusion

As Malaysia Year of Festivals 2015 is a national mission, it is envisaged that government agencies, the private sector, non-government agencies, and industry players will come together and make the national campaign a success.
