Year End Events in Malaysia 2014 is a compilation of shows, concerts, and events that are scheduled to take place in the months of October, November and December around Malaysia. These events are also endorsed by Malaysia Major Events, a division of Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia.
As we get closed to the year end here in Malaysia, quite a number of international events, concerts and shows have been planned and among them, huge superstars like Mariah Carey and Mamma Mia are scheduled to perform here in the capital of Malaysia. Below is a list of events, plays, concerts and shows lined up for the year end.
Mariah Carey Live in Malaysia 2014
Date: 22nd October 2014
Venue: Stadium Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur
Mariah Carey, an international icon with millions of fans worldwide will make her appearance in Malaysia once again since her debut in 2004. Mariah Carey is the best-selling female artist of all time with more than 200 million albums sold to date. She has released countless chart topping songs and albums over the years and continues to do so to date.
The Concert will feature songs from her 14th album, “Me. I Am Mariah…The Elusive Chanteuse,” as well as her famous classics and chart topping melodies. As quoted in a recent interview with Billboard that the album took its title from a “personal possession of mine that's part of an entity that I've had almost all my life.”
Disney Live! Three Classic Fairy Tales
Date: 24th October 2014 to 26th October 2014
Venue: Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre
The show features Disney cartoon characters in performances that derive their music and plot from elements from various Disney films. This event will feature performances by characters from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Cinderella and Beauty & The Beast.
Featuring dynamic storytelling, award winning music, stunning costumes and glittering special effects, audiences will be captivated by the humour, fun and adventure of these spellbinding stories. Dream with the princesses, cheer for the heroes as they conquer evil villains and these classic tales are brought to life in a theatrical experience that’s pure magic.
Viper Challenge 2014
Date: 01 Nov 2014 to 02 Nov 2014
Venue: Sepang International Circuit (SIC), Sepang
Viper Challenge 2014 is one of the Asia’s biggest obstacle event. It will be THE marquee obstacle-based community challenge in the region, the first of its kind in South-East Asia.
Participants will have to go through over 21 unique large-scale man-made obstacles, across an 20.65 km course, crawling through mud, scaling heights, battling fatigue and overcoming fears.
Viper Challenge is based on a wave format, which means only 500 participants will be released into the Viper arena every 30mins. Participants can expect to complete all obstacles between 3-4 hours.

2014 Retrofest Asia

Venue: Surf Beach, Sunway Lagoon, Selangor
Retrofest Asia 2014, a 90s Music Festival is seeking to bring back fans to the era of 90s. Gathering almost all the top acts from the era, this festival will be one of the MUST attend festivals in Malaysia.
The festival will feature such artists like Rick Astley, Bananarama, Belinda Carlisle, Firehouse, Tevin Campbell and many more.
Malaysia Urban Retreat Festival 2014 ( MURFEST)
Date: 7th November 2014 to 9th November 2014
Venue: Pullman Putrajaya / Marina Putrajaya
Malaysia Urban Retreat Festival 2014 (MURFEST) aims to be Malaysia’s largest yoga, dance and music festival, featuring top yoga instructors, artists, musical acts and dancers from around the globe. This event will feature an array of Yoga workshops running simultaneously teaching various Yoga techniques and types, diverse dance and music lessons, wellness and healing vendor village and a wide selection food bazaar.
URBANITE concert will be held 2 nights in a row at Marina Putrajaya to being more hype to the MURFEST. This mini concert is a collective of “World Music” of different genres. This will give the audience a cross-cultural feel of the music world. The bands selected will be those of world music, fusion and classical styles.
7th Royal Kedah World Muaythai Challenge
Date: 14th November 2014 to 15th November 2014
Venue: Mahsuri Hall, Langkawi, Kedah
Z1 International once again brings the prestige sport event; 7th Royal Kedah World MuayThai Challenge to MuayThai lovers. Entering its 7th consecutive year after the first event in 2008, this event is set to draw more regional fans to Malaysia.
The event has been receiving positive reactions from both local and regional fans, gaining average of 6,000 audience and 24,000 live streaming viewers annually. With a successful track record, this event is one of the MOST awaited events in sports’ calendar.
Asanee Suwan, a former Thai boxer turned actor is ready to set the fire burning at Mahsuri Hall with his first appearance in Malaysia. His movie “Beautiful Boxer” has lifted him as one of the most popular actors in Thailand, which help to increase the number of his fans. A total of 17 boxers from different countries as Brazil, South Africa, Scotland, Iran and many more will be participating.

Sesame Street Live in Malaysia – Elmo Makes Music

This multi-million dollar Broadway musical show is a winner of 159 Emmy Awards and is the world’s leading children’s education brand. The 90-minute shows are written and produced in conjunction with Sesame Workshop and based on the Emmy Award-Winning television program.
The Maze Challenge Asia 2014
Date: 29th November 2014 to 30th November 2014
Venue: Sepang International Circuit (SIC)
The Maze Challenge Asia (MCA) 2014 seeks to test participants’ ability to conquer 7700m² of a temporary built giant maze in the fastest time possible. The challenge will be complemented with physical obstacles in its course, testing a great body and mind workout of participants. MCA 2014 sets to enhance social inclusion and to promote unity within the participants.
The concept of MCA is different from any other sports as well-planned coordination and critical thinking are needed to complete the maze. MCA 2014 is set to pull in international crowds with its unique concept and it will be truly great experience for the participants.
Penang Island Jazz Festival 2014
Date: 4th December 2014 to 7th December 2014
Venue: Bayview Beach Resort, Batu Feringghi Penang
Penang Island Jazz Festival 2014 (PIJF) is an annual event since 2004. This will be PIJF’s 11th consecutive year. The past 10 editions of this music festival has attractted a wide cross-section audience from all walks of life from all over Malaysia and Asia Pacific region.
Performers for this year’s “Jazz By The Beach” stage (Saturday, 6th and Sunday, 7th December) include Crystal Bowersox, Carmen Souza, Monoswezi, Laila Baili Trio, CNIRBS, Jo Yeong Duk Trio, JazzHats & Ray featuring Man Kidal and others.

Urbanscapes 2014

Urbanscapes 2014 is hosting their fifth home-grown festival here again in Malaysia with greater emphasis on comedy, music, food and artistic illustrations for the art enthusiast, locally and internationally. Mini-festivals and satellite shows which will be held in Genting will assist with creating the vibe and promotion leading to the main Urbanscapes festival on 6th December.
Urbanscapes main festival will showcase several music headliners from different genres globally. Confirmed artist performing at the main festival are, American alternative rock band; Lemonheads and American Indie-Rock band; Local Natives.

Kids Golf World Championships 2014 (KGWC)

International Motorcycle Festival (Malaysia) 2014

International Motorcycle Festival 2014 (IMF) is initiated to be an important major festival tag lined “All About Two Wheels” for bikers in Malaysia and all around the region. First of its kind, the International Motorcycle Festival (Malaysia 2014) will continuously be an annual biker’s event held in Malaysia. This year the show is hosted at the open car park space in Stadium Bukit Jalil which aims to accommodate bike lovers around Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan, Indonesia and Singapore.

Stefanie Sun Kepler World Tour in Malaysia 2014

Stefanie Sun Yan Zi is a Singaporean singer-songwriter with 11 albums under her belt. Dubbed as the most successful singer from Singapore, Sun has written her own history in entertainment industry. Being a perfectionist herself, she once stated that ‘clever singers do not rush into productions because quality does matter when releasing an album’ putting negative criticisms to rest. Her first two-days Taiwan concerts were sold out in 46 minutes after tickets went on sale three months before the concerts.
