Canopy Walk at Danum Valley Sabah

 Danum Valley Canopy Walk
One of the most amazing  experiences I have had is at the Canopy Walk in Danum Valley, Sabah. This amazing canopy walk is one of the best in the world where you explore the canopy of the forest reserve in Danum, Sabah Borneo.

Located within a 348 square kilometer forest reserve, getting here is no simple task as it takes about 2-3 hours from the town of Lahat Datu in east coast Sabah via four wheel drive.

The forest reserve is also one of the most pristine where it caters to a vast reserve of lush tropical lowland forest rich in Sabah’s unique flora and fauna. The area has also been recognized as one of the world's most complex ecosystems catering to all kinds of flora and fauna.

To fully experience Danum Valley and the amazing canopy walk, one must book a stay at the Borneo Rainforest Lodge which is one of the unique luxurious resorts located in the middle of the rainforest.

For birdwatchers, they will surely appreciate the 300-meter-long and 27-meter-high canopy walkway which offers a peek into abundant bird life in the forest canopy here. A three level intersection makes the canopy one of the most unique in the world too.

Over the years of traveling, I have compiled a list of the best canopy walks in Malaysia, which I have been to most of them. You may have read or seen other articles on this, but let me assure you they are all written by desktop writers who have never been to any of them.

As a travel writer and photographer, one of my focuses is outdoors and nature, therefore experiencing these canopy walks was part of my duty of sharing them with my readers.

Some of the canopy walks or tree top walks are located in remote areas where guided tours are required. Most of them are in commercial parks and areas.

You can get more information on Danum Valley from the Sabah Tourism website. If you are a true and passionate nature lover, this IS the place to visit in Borneo for the amazing fora and fauna.

Nothing else will compare once you have visited this place and experienced the Canopy Walk at Danum Valley in Sabah, which of course I can personally vouch for.

Nice introduction David. Did you try to throw stone at the bee hive on Menggaris tree? :-D

There is also the canopy walk near Poring Hot Spring in Borneo. I did it in January and it's quite an experience!

Christine, thanks and yes, I did visit Poring about 5 years ago. But this one takes the cake!

Lunaticg - Yes, not recommended for those with weak hearts or fear of heights. But overall, an amazing experience.
