Otherwise you will take a 30 minute journey via taxi to the resort passing beautiful Langkawi scenery. On arrival, you will be greeted by name from the friendly resort staff even before you introduce yourself.

The Datai Restaurant

A lovely welcome drink and cold towel is served while you are ushered to the sofa area where you see the famous lobby with the lotus filled pond and postcard perfect views of the rainforest and its surroundings. The Datai boasts of 54 deluxe room, 40 villas and 16 suits which are strategically located around the serene Langkawi rainforest. Lobby area

From a travelers point of view, the Datai is one of the well known hotels which is rich in flora and fauna from the tropical rainforest. Part of the Datai experience is to engage one of their certified naturalist for day or evening nature walks around the Datai rainforest.

Family Swimming Pool

As there are two swimming pools here, the adult pool is only reserved for guests that are 16 years and above. This way, everybody wins where the single traveler can just laze by the adult pool while the families can have their fun at the other pool. Both pools are far apart.

The Spa at The Datai

The Spa at the Datai is also very unique as it is integrated with the natural rainforest surroundings. Some of the known treatments here include the Datai Massage, Warm Stone Massage and Rainforest Harmony Treatment held in four open air spa pavilions. Individual and couple treatments are available at The Spa.

The Datai Villas

The Datai Villas are absolutely outstanding where each unit comes with a 37" LCD Flat Screen TV, DVD Player, Bose CD Sound System and a Lavazza Coffee Machine not forgetting the tastefully decorated interior and spacious surroundings in this A-Framed style ceiling villa.

The Datai Villa Daybed

A day bed sits by the villa window giving you a beautiful view of the lush rainforest. On a rainy day, you have the choice of going to the DVD Library to get a movie of your choice and just spend the day watching movies.

Villa bathrooms are really huge and spacious with two individual sinks and a amazing bath tub with his and her wardrobes. Not only that, each unit comes with 100ml bottles of Molten Brown Toiletries.

Villa balcony

Sitting at the villa balcony, one can just absorb in the smell and sounds of the tropical rainforest while enjoying a good book or just simply relaxing. If you want to move around the resort, they have a buggy service that picks you up. But most of the guests prefer to walk to the various places around the resort.

Deluxe rooms at the Datai

The Datai Deluxe Rooms are housed in a multi storey unit which is connected to the main building via walkways. Each of the deluxe rooms have a combined bedroom and living area with balcony overlooking the rainforest with similar facilities as the villas.

The Gulai House - Part of the menu

The Datai also has five restaurants where the award winning Gulai House is the most popular there. This restaurant is located away from the resorts main building and situated in the middle of a rainforest. This Kampung Style open air restaurant serves out authentic Malay and Indian styled cuisine in generous portions.

One of the waiting areas

Most packages here do not include breakfast so do inquire about the Breakfast Inclusive Packages when you book. Besides this, there are several other packages available which include Wedding and Honeymoon Packages, Long Stay Packages and Back To Nature Packages.

If you want a honeymoon or anniversary to remember, surprise your loved one by booking a week long stay here. Also if you are looking for a luxurious, exclusive, but relaxed romantic getaway then this is definitely the right place.

Note: The Datai is isolated from everything so if you want to walk about or visit Kuah Town, they can arrange for this. Also, watch out for the monkeys while you stay there. They are known to explore guests rooms so keep those windows locked when you are out or you may find some items missing when you get back.

I wasn't all too impressed with the pictures of the facilities, but, wow, the costs sure are astronomical.

I had no idea that the cost of living in Malaysia has escalated that much over the past 12 years since I've been away.

Now I know.

wow!wow!wow! this place is so coooolll!!!!

David Jr said...

Shloke, splurge is the key word here :)

Andru, well, they do want to keep it at that luxury level and don't really target locals. So, a class of it's own if you ask me. Very few locals have stayed there too.

Aidi, totally. So cool that your pockets are hot!
