The much talked about 20th Century Fox World Theme Park in Genting Malaysia is set to open its doors to the world somewhere in late 2017 or even in early 2018, where it was initially planned to open in 2016.

Update 2021: The new name for this place is now called Genting SkyWorlds Theme Park and scheduled to open in Q2 or Q3 of 2021.

Since the announcement of the new theme park in Genting was made in 2013, much has changed where constructions delays were one of the main causes for shifting the opening date.

There have also been many speculations from the media and analyst worldwide about the official opening for 20th Century Fox World Malaysia.

But many are assuming it could be late 2017 or even at the late end of the first quarter of 2018. Update 2nd January 2018 - No official news has been put out, and the park is only 75% complete.

Looks like it may only open on Q3 or Q4 in 2018. Below are some of the facts compiled for your reading pleasure.

1. First 20th Century Fox Theme Park in the World

This came as huge industry news as 20th Century Fox was investing in a world-class theme park and Malaysia, Southeast Asia. News reports worldwide highlighted this on mainstream and online portals creating excitement for the general public.

The fact that it was being opened here in Genting, Malaysia, got the locals super excited about this world-class theme park. 

2. 20th Century Fox World Theme Park To Cost RM2.5 Billion

A whopping RM2.5 Billion to build the worlds; first, 20th Century Fox World Theme Park has also made news as there have been questions raised on why that much was needed, but sources cite that this was not an extraordinary amount to build a world-class theme park nowadays.

3. 20th Century Fox World Malaysia To Open In Phases

With the rush to get this new theme park open, sources cite that the 20th Century Fox World Malaysia is likely to open in phases, starting in late 2017 or early 2018.

This means the full completer park will probably be ready by 2018 or even 2019.

4. 2.3 Million Visitors Expected On the First Year of Operation

An earlier mention where a forecast of 4 Million visitors per annum was cited, but in reality, 2.3 Million has been forecasted for the first 12 months of operation.

However, the following year will increase to 3 Million visitors and project 4 Million visitors to the theme park in 2019. 

5. 20th Century Fox World Malaysia Ticket Price To Be Around RM150.00

The analyst has projected the theme park tickets to be around RM 150.00 (US$36) per person. This is also compared to other theme parks in Malaysia, where Sunway Lagoon's ticket prices are priced around RM 96.00 and Legoland Malaysia at RM 83.00.

However, this may change when the official news is announced for the 20th Century Fox World Malaysia opening.

6. 25 Rides At 20th Century Fox World Genting Theme Park

With this being the first of its kind in the world, a total of 25 rides will be available at the new theme park in Genting.

The 25 thrill rides and attractions will also be based on films and franchises like Planet of the Apes, Rio, Alien vs Predator, Ice Age, Life of Pi, Night at the Museum and Titanic, among the ones mentioned during the press conference back then.

Rides will be offered in thrill rides, water rides and even dark rides for both children and adults. More top names may be added to the list before the opening.

7. 25 Acres Of Land Used For 20th Century Fox Malaysia

A whopping 25 acres of land space will be used for the entire theme park to take over the former Genting Outdoor Theme Park.

This will also be one of the largest theme parks in Southeast Asia when completed.

8. Why Twentieth Century Fox Chose To Partner With Genting Malaysia?

Resorts World (Genting) is one of the largest resort operators globally. In Genting alone, Resorts World operates over 10,000 hotel rooms, 75 restaurants, an indoor mall and a golf resort in Genting Highlands. 

With an average of 20 million people visits Genting yearly, very few places in the world can achieve this kind of tourist numbers.

9. 20th Century Fox World Malaysia First Of Three Theme Parks In The World

There are currently three 20th Century Fox Theme Parks in the world, and the Malaysia one will be the first, followed by 20th Century Fox World Dubai, somewhere in 2018 and then 20th Century Fox World Korea, also in 2018 at Yeongjong Island.

The Dubai theme park was announced in November 2015, and the Korea theme park was announced seven months after the first 20th Century Fox World Malaysia was announced.

10. Dream Parade at 20th Century Fox World Malaysia

Just like in Disneyland, a special Dream Parade that features characters and titles of movies and cartoons represented at the 20th Century Fox World will be in animatronics form.

Though not fully confirmed, there are no images on this, but you can easily imagine all the 20th Century Fox characters in this Dream Parade, which will presumably take place on the theme park's main street.

Bonus Fact - A Fox World Studios is set to open at Level 2 on Sky Avenue Genting. This will be a brand new store that sells apparels and home decor related to the many Fox movies.

Highlights are the many souvenirs of characters from movies such as Rio, Robots, Ice Age, Planet of the Apes, Aliens vs Predators, Epic, Night at the Museum and many other movies.

The Fox World Studios Store in Genting opens on the 21st April 2018, way ahead of the theme park opening. This will help provide a build-up to the opening of the 20th Century Fox World Theme Park in Genting, Malaysia.
