The Top at Komtar Penang

One of the new tourist attractions in Penang is located on the top of the highest building in the island and is called The Top at Komtar Penang, which is on the 59th and 60th floor of the Komtar Building in George Town.

Opened in June 2015, this is and will be one of the top tourist attractions in Penang for the next few years, and visitors coming here can experience an amazing experience of a full 360 degrees birds-eye view of George Town from the Top at Komtar, Penang.

The main rooftop restaurant at Komtar is called 59Sixty Dining Room, where two different concepts are located on each of the floors.

On the 59th floor, there is the 59 Dining Room which offers brunch, high tea and dinner ala buffet style and the place also can be utilized as a function hall and ballroom for those wanting to do events, functions or weddings.

The theme of the 59 Restaurant also follows a strong Mediterranean look and feel, which is tastefully designed.

As for the cuisines offered at 59 Restaurant, a mix of local and international dishes are available for the buffet - think Malaysian, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Italian, European and a healthy spread of seafood.

Overall, the 59 Dining Room and Restaurant can accommodate up to 450 people comfortably and it is recommended that you make reservations before coming here, especially on weekends.

On the 60th floor, you will find the Sixty Cigar and Wine Bar, offering visitors some amazing sunset and night views of George Town and its surroundings, but please note that there is no outdoor section.

For those wanting a day view of George Town, you can come here for a quick drink anytime from 11.00 am, but make sure it is a clear day, so you can get the best views possible from up here.

Currently, there is no rooftop bar in Penang, and this place is now the trend for the locals so expect a crowd on weekends.

There is also live music performed here while the Sixty Cigar and Wine Bar offers some of the best wine and cigar collection from around the world. Beers and cocktails are also available and this place also classifies The Top Penang as the tallest sky bar in the northern region.

Future plans include tourist and interactive attractions at Komtar, both for tourist and locals, so keep a lookout for these.
