George Town in Penang is connected via two bridges from the mainland and alternatively, you can take the classic ferry back and forth or simply fly in as a number of airlines connect there via Kuala Lumpur.

The journey via road to Penang is about four to five hours while it is only a one hour flight from Kuala Lumpur. Penang also connects to the beautiful Langkawi Island via ferries and flights.

For those traveling here on a budget, I did an article on Free Things to do in Penang while for the food traveler, you should make it a point to try the local Hawker Food in Penang as it is noted as one of the best places in Malaysia for foodies.
