Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015

Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015 Launching

The Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015 or MIDE 2015 takes place from 12-14 June at the Putra World Trade Centre or PWTC in Kuala Lumpur and this year is also the 10th anniversary for the dive expo here. The three day event was officiated by the Malaysian Tourism Minister Datuk Seri Nazri on the 12th June with other VIP's, officials, supporters and media representatives.

At the MIDE 2015 launching, the minister spoke about scuba diving in Malaysia and how it has attracted many divers from around the world, especially to places like Sipadan Island which is noted as one of the top diving spots in the world.

The dive expo is also the largest in Malaysia where over 100 booths were taken up by various dive companies, suppliers and operators from locally and also international. Many were seen promoting new diving products and a large number of diving photography equipment was also being sold.

Diving equipment came in all shapes and sizes and due to the high demand in this, many new fancy equipment in various colours were available. Prices of the dive equipment ranged from budget to luxury to suit the various markets.

Apart from dive related products, there were also a number of non-profit organisations here like Reef Check Malaysia who conducts reef and marine surveys around Malaysia. They are also involved in the Green Fins Project where dive operators practise a 15-point code of conduct list for environmentally friendly diving standards.

Sabah Tourism, Tourism Malaysia and Philippines Depart of Tourism had extra large booths to promote their products. Other products sold here were popular dry bag brand HyperGear and RipCurl who were offering a special discount only for MIDE.

For anyone who is a diver or interested in diving, the Malaysia International Dive Expo 2015 is the best place to start where you can get all the information you need to pursue this fascinating hobby.

Many dive operators and resorts were seen at MIDE 2015 promoting unique destinations like Raja Ampat, Maldives, Manado and various other places. Among them, the only Dive Oil Rig Resort in the world called Seaventures was also there. Seaventures is located off the island of Mabul in Sabah which is just nearby to Sipadan and is one of the most popular dive destinations in Malaysia.

Packages were seen being promoted by offering fantastic deals that can only be found during the event. As we walked around the expo, we noticed many local divers buying diving packages to islands around Malaysia and some even to overseas and we were tempted to buy a package too.
