Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Opening

Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA Opening

Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA is opening in 2015 and this is the latest factory outlet in Malaysia which promises tourist and shoppers a whole new experience in factory outlet shopping at the largest Factory Outlet in South East Asia. In new reports, it was said that this place would be opening in the first quarter of 2015. I assume that the place will open somewhere in April or May.

When opened, the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA will offer shoppers a total of 140 shopping outlets occupying a massive area of 25,000sqm while the location of it is perfect as it is strategically located just 6 km from the Kuala Lumpur International Airport and the new KLIA2. Anyone driving towards the two airports will see this building on the left as it is quite obvious.

Currently, the Japanese Factory Outlet chain looks almost completed with the main structure already completed and the car park ready as anyone can see this on the way to both airports. According to news reports, Phase 1 of the plan is scheduled to commence in the first quarter of 2015 and the final phase and expansion will full be completed in 2021 that will accommodate a total of 260 shops.

The massive project is also conceptualised by a Japanese global architectural and design house called Nonscale. Highlights of the Mitsui Outlet Park in Malaysia will feature four distinctive concepts;

1. Sunshine Square
2. Pier Walk
3. Tropical Plaza
4. Beach Walk

In general, tourist and shoppers can expect discounts between 30% and 70% off normal retail prices of branded and luxury items here. As for the list of tenants here, nothing has been released but you can expect famous international and domestic brands offering women's, men's and kid's fashion, sporting and outdoor goods, fashion items, lifestyle items and many more. On a side note, you can expect top and popular Japanese brands there as well.

Services at Mitsui Outlet Park

For the travelers convenience, there are plans to provide a shuttle bus service from KLIA to the venue and back. Apart from that, check-in counters and flight information display boards will also be set up as these are in the pipeline for the venue.

A modern and stylish food court is also one of the consumer products that will be available here as in all the other Mitsui Outlets in Japan, there emphasise on this. There may also be world-class restaurants here while Malaysia is in a tropical climate, there may be less outdoor interaction compared to the other Japanese outlets in Japan.

As for attractions around the area, there is also the Gateway at KLIA2 which is a integrated shopping mall in the airport, there is the Sepang International Circuit or SIC which offers Go Karting and Circuit Tours, Tanjung Sepat Town and the Avani Sepang Gold Coast.

About the developer

The Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA is poised to be a destination of choice regionally and a stimulus for development under the KLIA Aeropolis Masterplan which is a development mix of commercial real estate that will include offices, commercial establishments, a theme park and golf courses, a convention centre, logistics facilities and other projects that are bound to turn the area surrounding KLIA into a thriving modern hub.

MFMA Development Sdn. Bhd. is 70% owned by Mitsui Fudosan and 30% owned by Malaysia Airports. MFMA will lease the land owned by Malaysia Airports, and will be responsible to construct the buildings, and lease it out to tenants. It will also be tasked to promote this project.

The Mitsui Outlet Park project consists of an approximate 44 acres of land in Sepang. The gross development cost is estimated at RM334.4 million and Mitsui Outlet Park will be developed in three phases, with a total lettable area of about 46,300 square meters upon full completion in 2021. How to go to Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA

The location of MOP KLIA is along the main highway leading towards KLIA and KLIA2 Airports. It is just after the Malaysia Airports building or the former junction to LCCT (After paying your toll). Just continue to drive 100 meters more and you will see the massive factory outlet building with a huge parking lot.

If you are coming from KLIA or KLIA2, you need to go up the flyover towards the MEX Highway or Cargo Terminal and then make a U-Turn at the roundabout to head back to the factory outlet.

For more information, you can also visit the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA website. But to date, there is minimal information on tenants and activities. I am assuming that this will be updated in the coming months so best to check back monthly for any updates.

This is also Malaysia's second proper and international factory outlet after Johor Premium Outlets or JPO opened in Nusajaya, Johor in 2011. With international and budget airlines servicing both airports, this will be one of the main attractions for passengers arriving or even those who on transit here will have the opportunity to visit the Mitsui Outlet Park KLIA.
