If you are a scuba diver, this is the one main event that you should attend especially if you want to find out more about the diving industry in Malaysia.

Plus this event is also the best place to get diving equipment as many of the dealers will have their promotions during the expo. You can view my previous articles on MIDE 2014 and MIDE 2013

Off-topic but relevant - On a very subjective side of this, divers will keep their money and wait for the dive expo to buy equipment due to the better prices and packages.

Speaking to one of the dive dealers in Kuala Lumpur, they have admitted that MIDE has sort of made buyers wait for the event to make their purchases as they know that they can get much better discounts and prices versus walking into a shop and buying the similar items.

It is quite similar to how the travel fairs in Malaysia have spoilt the industry where people only wait for the Matta Fair 2015 to buy their packages.

MIDE Rebreathers

Anyway, as diving has grown tremendously over the last 10 years, there are a lot more diverse in the market nowadays.

Many new divers are looking into the diving fashion where they want to have premium or more unique dive equipment that stands out and is practical.

Examples would be like the multi-colored backpack Oxycheq BCD and DiveRite BCD or even the imported multi-colored regulator and BC Miflex Hoses which can be matched for your coloured dive set.

Even for dive accessories and computers, there is a wide range available from various distributors selling brands like Suunto D4i Novo, Mares, Hog, Edge, Aqualung, ScubaPro and Ikelite.

Specialized products like rebreathers are also the talk of divers where prices have been dropping for these bubble-less breathing apparatus due to technology advancement.

Sidemount BCDs are also getting popular with the new generation of leisure cave divers where prices are quite affordable.

Other highlights of the Mide Dive Expo in Malaysia are the many exotic and distant dive destinations around the region which was once very hard to access but with the growth of budget airlines and routes, these places are now easily reached with just one flight.

With the easy access, dive operators can now sell destinations like Moalboal, Malapascua, Anilao and Puerto Galera in the Philippines, Manado, Lombok, Raja Ampat, Maldives, and many more places.

Overall, if you are a diving tourist visiting Malaysia in June, you should visit this expo and exhibition in KL as you may always find something new or even cheaper than in your own country.

Most of the local divers and diving industry would be seen here and this is also a great place to mingle and network at MIDE 2015.
