Thailand Curfew Update 12 June 2014:
The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced the lifting of nighttime curfew in 17 provinces and 15 districts in three provinces with immediate effect.
The provinces are Kanchanaburi, Ratchaburi, Tak, Rayong, Chanthaburi, Sukhothai, Mae Hong Son, Uttaradit, Phrae, Nan, Nakhon Phanom, Sakon Nakhon, Roi Et, Loei, Surin, Trang, and Satun.
The 15 districts are Sadao and Mueang districts in Songkhla, six districts including Ko Kood in Trat and seven districts including Kaeng Krachan in Petchaburi.
The 20 areas joined the existing 10 major tourist destinations currently enjoying curfew-free, which are Phuket, Ko Samui, Pattaya City, Hua Hin, Cha-am, Krabi, Phang-nga, Hat Yai, Ko Chang and Ko Phangan (including Ko Tao).

The nighttime curfew has been lifted in three more major tourist destinations: Hat Yai, Ko Chang and Ko Phangan with immediate effect, as announced by the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) bringing the total areas to 10.
This announcement was issued in Bangkok at 20.00 hrs. (GMT+7) on 8 June 2014.

This latest announcement brings the total number of major Thai tourist destinations to enjoy curfew exemption to 10 or as per the following:
1: Phuket
2: Ko Samui
3: Pattaya
4: Hua Hin
5: Cha-am
6: Krabi
7: Phang-nga
8: Hat Yai
9: Ko Chang
10: Ko Phangan
As the curfew takes place from 12.00 midnight till 4.00 am, business is as per usual around Thailand. In Bangkok city, locals and foreigners are going about their normal daily activities of shopping and sightseeing.
For those who are uncertain about this, let us assure you that there is no problem in Bangkok city especially in the main shopping areas.
This is also confirmed by me as I recently got back from a trip from Bangkok from 4 to 7 June. In my personal opinion, I walked around central Bangkok looking for local food and doing some shopping and everything was as per normal.
There was no military insight during my 4 days there while life was normal for everyone, including the tourist and local Thai people.
For those who are uncertain about this, let us assure you that there is no problem in Bangkok city especially in the main shopping areas.
