National Open House Hari Raya in Melaka

Hari Raya Open House Malaysia

The National Open House Hari Raya in Melaka 2013 was held at the Hang Tuah Stadium in the historical city of Melaka, Malaysia.

Graced by the Prime Minister of Malaysia Datuk Seri Utama Najib Razak, his wife Datin Seri Utama Rosmah, Tourism Minister of Malaysia Dato' Seri Nazri and many other VIPs, the event saw a turnout of over 10,000 Malaysians and also 180 MegaFam participants from all over the world.

Held on the 30th August, a day before the Malaysia Independence Day or Merdeka Day, this event saw a myriad of colours being showcased with highlights on the cultural and arts aspect.

Performances by local singers and celebrities also brought additional charm and flavour while food and craft was also the talk of the event.

The National Open House event is held multiple times a year in conjunction with the main ethnic festivals of Malaysians.

This was in conjunction with the Hari Raya Celebrations and the state of Melaka was selected to host the national-level event.

For me, this is my first national-level event where I witnessed a very colourful event which highlighted the many races of Malaysians and as it was in Melaka, the Baba-Nyonya and Portuguese people made a very strong impression.

Conclusion

My personal tip to foreigners visiting Malaysia, do keep a lookout for the country's National Open House events which take place three or four times a year.

They are usually done in various states throughout the country, and you need to double check on the time on when you visit, and where the events are being held.

You can also get more information from visiting MaTiC or Malaysia Tourism Centre in Kuala Lumpur, or just Google the Tourism Malaysia website for additional information.
