Novotel Clarke Quay Hotel Review Singapore

Review of Novotel Clarke Quay Hotel Singapore

This Novotel Clarke Quay Hotel review would be my second hotel reviewed in the island republic of Singapore within the last two years from 2011 to 2012.

I had the pleasure of staying a night here as I attended the recent ITB Asia event which was held at the Marina Bay Sands Convention Center.

Whenever I travel, the location of a hotel is very important as it can ease my movement around a city or location.

Well, Clarke Quay is a well-known area in Singapore and staying here was very convenient for me as there was a good mix of entertainment, shopping, and public transportation all in one place.

Novotel Clarke Quay in Singapore boasts of a recent facelift in an overall cosmetic change and an upgrade of all its rooms where it looks very trendy in today's traveling society.

As it is located in a shopping mall, the main entrance to the hotel starts on the 7th floor. Due to the strategic location, this Clarke Quay Hotel attracts tourists, business and family travelers.

The 4-Star Hotel also houses 403 rooms, a business center, three restaurants, a bar and even banquet halls which are very popular with weddings.

During my two days stay here in October 2012, I must have seen at least 4 weddings in that time-span being held at the function rooms of the hotel.

Entering the main lobby, you will be welcomed by a row of the latest Apple desktop computers which are free to be used by hotel guests.

In the backdrop, you see the stunning Singapore skyline with the Marina Bay Sands structure among the many other high-rise buildings.

The main hotel restaurant, a bar, and the swimming pool are also located on the same level as the lobby area.

Checking into my room, I could not help but notice the earthy color tones which made me feel warm and comfortable.

As almost all hotel rooms are similar in my line of work, I immediately headed to the window for the view as I am always fascinated by hotel room views.

I had an interesting view of Clarke Quay from the other side with several high rise buildings that make up the interesting Singapore skyline.

The hotel room's working desk was well designed with plug points and Internet cables readily in one area. I am a sucker for plug points when I travel as most hotels have them placed all over the room.

Travel writers like me carry smartphones, cameras, laptops, and the kitchen sink, therefore, it is crucial to have all these gadgets charged at night for the following day.

So the power points in Novotel were perfect for me. A 32 inch LCD TV was placed above the desk while the 344 square feet Superior Room housed a comfortable king-size bed.

Yes, the pillows were amazing! I almost wanted to buy them for my own bed but unfortunately, my check-in bag did not allow for this.

The bathroom was also simple and well designed and I especially liked the little retro touch of mosaic tiles used in the shower area.

Now, speaking of the shower - This was my favorite part of the hotel room where the rain shower was one of the biggest I have seen in my life.

Spanning over 12 inches in diameter, it felt like I was actually taking a shower in the rain. The water pressure was perfect too as I really dislike it when the pressure is not up to expectations.

I am sure some of you would have experienced a drizzle when you put on the rain shower at some hotels. So, this was a thumbs up from me.

Overall, the superior room at the Novotel Clarke Quay in Singapore delivered its job. A comfortable and relaxing stay while the hotel was located perfectly in an area I liked.

It took me only about 10 minutes to walk across the river to the MRT station where I visited many places around the island.

One of them I must make it a point to go is to the Mustapha 24 Hour Shopping Center near Little India in the Serangoon area. Yes, the entire mall is open 24 hours a day!

Other general places of interest that nearby include Orchard Road, Universal Studios Singapore and Marina Bay Sands Singapore where everything is connected by the MRT.

Novotel Singapore Premier Floor

The premier floor at Novotel Singapore offers a spacious and comfortable newly-upgraded Premier Lounge catered to today's lifestyle.

This floor offers complimentary American breakfast, WiFi, express check-in / check-out and complimentary use of the boardroom for business meetings and cocktail hours complete with free-flow drinks and canapes every evening.

Just take a look at the overall view offered on this floor. You get to see almost the entire Clarke Quay from up here. I personally think the view is spectacular from this floor.

Every premier room is fully equipped with the latest technology which includes WiFi / broadband Internet, a state of the art pivoting work-station for the business travelers, flat screen cable television with a media connectivity panel.

There is also a Nespresso coffee machine, iPod docking stations plus all the latest fittings and fixtures in bedrooms and bathrooms that will make the stay of the business executive, family on holiday or casual tourist in Singapore, a memorable one.

However, with the current growing trend of Android and Apple smartphones, I personally think that the hotel industry should start paying attention to this device.

I used to own an iPhone until I met Android, therefore, the iPod docking did not do justice for me. (PPOV ~ Personal point of view)

Facilities here include a swimming pool, fitness center, function rooms for events or business meetings but most importantly, it is located in a very central and popular area of Singapore.

Conclusion

For the general tourist, I would easily recommend this hotel as you get the best of everything at a very affordable price for a 4-star hotel located in Clarke Quay.

You get to explore the area which is filled with international shopping malls, shops, markets, restaurants, and bars. Other attractions within walking distance include Chinatown, Singapore Duck Tours, and the famous Singapore River Cruise.

Happy traveling if you are planning to visit this island republic, and I hope you enjoyed reading my Novotel Clarke Quay Hotel review in Singapore.
