Le Tour de Langkawi

Langkawi Le Tour

Le Tour de Langkawi which starts on the Island of Langkawi and ends at Kuala Lumpur is my first time experiencing this in 2011.

I flew down to Langkawi on the 22nd January to witness this unique bicycling race and it is my first time seeing the race live from the start to the finish.

Starting at the Dataran Helang (Eagle Square) in Kuah town, the race went through a scenic Langkawi passing various villages, fields, beaches and rainforest roads.

The race eventually ended in Kuah Town where 23 teams from around the world took part in the 2011 Le Tour de Langkawi.

As I was under a third party contractor covering a certain brand involved here, I was fortunate enough to get close to the racers and team before the start of the race.

For the record, the race starts in Langkawi Island as the first stage and then moves to the main land to make their way down to the capital Kuala Lumpur.

Racers will be heading from town to town using the inner trunk roads with beautiful scenery while challenging stages include climbing Cameron Highlands and Genting Highlands.

Here are some of the various pictures taken during the Tour De Langkawi stage on the 23rd January 2011 during my 24-hour visit to this beautiful island. Click on the pictures to see them in Full Size.

For Stage One of the Le Tour de Langkawi, the weather was perfect with clear blue skies and all racers completed the circuit in about 2 hours and 15 minutes.

There were hardly any bubbles throughout the race as all teams were up to their pace.

As the race has moved to the mainland of Malaysia, we look forward to more excitement during the hill climbs. Hopefully, I can provide you more pictures during this event. Follow the links below for more updates.
