Proboscis Monkey Picture of the Week

Picture of Proboscis Monkey
Proboscis Monkey is my picture of the week showcasing various portrait shots taken with a Nikon 55-300mm lens. These unique monkeys also known as the 'Dutch Monkey' or Monyet Belanda in Malay - can only be found in the island of Borneo and no where else in the world.

I was visiting Labuk Bay in Sandakan, Sabah Borneo in October 2010 when I chanced upon a rare opportunity to photograph them up close. The Proboscis Monkeys (Nasalis larvatus) at Labuk Bay are in a controlled environment set up to protect and care for these special primates.

Check Wikipedia for more information on the Proboscis Monkeys from Borneo. Below are a series of pictures taken during my trip there.

This is my first time attempting to do portrait shots on wildlife and I was fortunate enough to experiment on the Proboscis Monkey on this trip to Labuk Bay in Sandakan, Sabah.
