Floating Market in Thailand - Picture of the week

Floating Market in Thailand - Picture of the week

This floating market picture was taken from a bridge at the Khong Hae Floating Market in Hat Yai, Southern Thailand. I was visiting the Trang-Satun district under Tourism Thailand on a familiarisation trip in June 2010 when we made a stop here to experience this unique culture of the Thai people. One thing you must try here are the various Thai Food sold from the boat vendors.

The Khong Hae Floating Market or Klonghae Floating Market is located about 4 kilometers from the town of Hat Yai (หาดใหญ่) at the Tambon Klonghae district and is only open from Friday to Sunday - 3pm till 9pm. There are also boat trips and tours available while a general market is just by the river selling a variety of things. Hoards of tourist and locals are seen here as this is one of the main tourist attractions of Hat Yai in Southern Thailand.

Nice picture, I bet there are some incredible foods coming off those boats. I've been to about 5 floating markets in Bangkok now and haven't been disappointed yet!

Hi Migationology, thanks and I plan to see the others. I think this one here is more Southern influenced and you are right about the food here. Awesome! My article should be out by the end of this week.
