MATTA Fair September 2010

MATTA Fair September 2010

MATTA Fair September 2010 will be from the 3rd to 5th and held at the PWTC in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This is the second and final major travel fair for this year and you can expect some fantastic bargains this time around. While the most popular travel times are towards the end of the year, you can expect most travel companies to be all out promoting their travel packages at MATTA Fair Sept 2010. So, if you have been planning and saving for that dream vacation, this is your chance to book it here.

MATTA Fair 2010 will also have the usual Buyers Contest where a cash prize of RM20,000 awaits one lucky winner who spends at the Malaysian Travel Fair. Apart from the usual massive crowd that visits the fair, you can be on the look out for the travel promotions offered by the 850+ booths which include;

 MATTA Fair promotional booths

All the major travel players in the industry will be participating at this September’s MATTA Fair 2010 as some of them may have skipped the MATTA Fair in March so I would be there to check out what promotions and bargains are being offered. The much talked about Air Asia booth should be very impressive while Malaysia Airlines and their subsidiaries which include FireFly and MasWings would also be there. The usual big names in the travel companies are for sure to impressive as every fair, they come up with something new to attract the crowd. On a personal note, I like to check the Club Med promotions as sometimes they offer crazy couple packages which are only valid with purchases during the fair.

Technically, if you have the time, you need to visit the fair at least two days if you are seriously hunting for the best bargain. A tip for this would be to head there early on Friday to check out the prices and get your pamphlets and leaflets from the respective companies. Then, come back again on the last day to finalize your purchase. Sometimes, you may even get a better deal on the last day but the set back is that the place will be filled with people. For more trips and information, please see my MATTA Fair tips.

Sabah Tourism at MATTA Fair 2010

Remember to wear comfortable walking shoes and watch out for pickpockets. As the fair is spread over three halls, there is much walking to do here and there are various places to buy drinks and snacks. I would recommend you exit hall 3 as there are some shops opposite the hall that sell food. Note that the entrance fee you pay is for that day only. A coloured wristband is given to you to wear for exit-entry purposes.

Apart from the general tour companies and agents, there are other travel related products available at the MATTA Fair. Some of them include;
  • Travel Apparels and Clothing
  • Travel Magazines and Books
  • Travel Bags
  • Cameras and Accessories
  • Food and Drinks
 Various sections offer more travel promotions

A number of countries will also be showcasing their specialties through their countries tourism boards so if you wanted to find out more about a certain country, you can easily look for them and get brouchers or booklets. Some of them even offer free information from the representatives.

MATTA Fair History - The MATTA Fair debuted in 1991 as an annual event with 80 booths and back then, the visitor turn out was only 9000.  It has since evolved into a bi-annual event drawing crowds as high as over 100,000 visitors at any one of their fairs.  Exhibitor participation has also increased over the years to over 900 booths since year 2005.

The main objective of the formation of the MATTA Fair is to provide a platform for MATTA (Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents) members to have easier access to the public at large and also for the public to fulfil their travel needs all under one roof.
