Architectural Marvel in Malaysia, Putrajaya
Putrajaya is truly an architectural marvel in Malaysia and is one amazing well planned city which is also the administrative capital of Malaysia.

Known also as the Garden City or Intelligent City, this massive project took off in 1995 at a cost of US$8.1 Billion during the tenure of former prime minister, Tun Mahathir.

Putrajaya City was finally ready in 1999, totaling over an area of 4,932 hectares which was strategically centralized between the capital of Kuala Lumpur and the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA).

Putrajaya is well known for its architectural wonders that dominate the main boulevard and also the surrounding areas or Precincts as they are called.

For those who have been here, you would easily relate to what I am featuring in this article about the architecture.

I have been to Putrajaya at least 10 times since it opened, and I have seen the progress of the architectural marvels here which always fascinate me every time I go back there.

A lot of Malaysians will take a half day trip to Putrajaya during the weekends to see how amazing this administrative capital is.

Not only that, they have shopping malls and many interesting tourist attractions, which includes parks, gardens and even a wetland.

While driving along the main Boulevard, I noticed many other buildings situated along this area and some of them are worth stopping to grab some pictures.

While most of the design have world class architectural designs, many of them carry the influence of Islamic Architecture mixed into the designs.

A couple of them are as in the picture above which are the Ministry of Youth and Sports, KBS Building (Menara KBS) and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Building (Wisma Sumber Asli).

Built in the shape of the national flower- the hibiscus, it is 68 meters tall and is located in the Precinct 2 park of Putrajaya.

The solid metal monument was also designed by world famous architect, Dr. Ken Yeang to usher in the new millennium but for some reason, it was officially opened to the public in 2005.

Apparently, several time capsules have been embedded here where the messages would be only opened in the year 2020.

Majority of the windows of the PICC are made from glass for the purposes of natural light illuminating the main auditorium. Spread over nine levels, the PICC has a total area of 135,000 square meters.

The Putrajaya Convention Center has also seen some major events including the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC) and the yearly Malaysia International Fireworks Competition since 2007, 2008 and 2009.

This beautiful building architecture is based on the Neo-Raj Palace with distinctive expressions of Portico, Colonnades, Archways and Screens finished with three tones of fair faced brick facades.

Another interesting feature at this building is the Ulam Raja Kerawang motifs that act as a screen throughout all the building windows.
