Malaysia Matta Fair

MATTA Fair 2009 is back for 3 days only, and held on the 4th, 5th and 6th September 2009. The largest travel fair in Malaysia is also located at the Putra World Trade Center (PWTC) in Kuala Lumpur.

Twice a year, the Malaysia Matta Fair takes place in Kuala Lumpur and this is the travel fair that people have been waiting for all year.

You will find crazy deals on holidays, flights and all sorts of promotions where a total of 830 booths will be showcasing and also selling all sorts of travel packages.

As usual the Malaysia Matta Fair (Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents) attracts all walks of life and on the first day itself, parking was a problem even at 10.00 am.

Because of this, it is best to get here early, and to encourage this, one of the Malaysian Travel Specialist - Mayflower Travels, is giving out 'early bird' contest forms for those who sign up for any of their travel packages from 8.00 am to 10.00 am during the three days of the fair.

To participate in the Mayflower travel contest called 'Travel and Win', one has to sign up a minimum package of RM300, and you are entitled to be in the running to win a brand new Nissan Grand Livina MPV.

This means, if you buy a package of lets say RM3,000, you would be getting 10 contest forms for this amazing prize. I will be returning tomorrow with a friend so I may even buy some travel package for this deal.

At the MATTA Fair 2009, there is a ticket charge of RM3.00 per adult, and kids under 12 years get in free.

A wristband is given to you and you make your way up to the main hall. Due to the recent H1N1, the organisers have also looked into that by giving out free face masks (on request) and also hand sanitisers are placed throughout the fair.

On walking around inside, I noticed that most of the tour and travel vendors had hand sanitisers for their customers.

This time around at the MATTA Fair 2009, some of the vendors are placed strategically outside the main hall at the entrance of the building.

Usually all vendors are at Level 3 in the PWTC Building but one of the big players like Mayflower Travels have secured a fantastic spot just outside the Seri Pacific Hotel entrance (old Pan Pacific Hotel).

A good move as many people are seen coming from that direction to visit the fair and Mayflower would be the first thing they see.

Some of the promotional girls are seen in unique costumes walking around the main entrance of the MATTA Fair promoting the country destinations.

There are also performers and shows from different countries going on throughout the day at the fair so check with your brochure on the timings.

This year, travel companies are focusing on kids and families where kids are being given free stays and some packages also offer free travel for the kids.

These packages look pretty sweet which is a win-win for everyone. So if you have a small or large family, you should look at the packages offered here.

One thing you will not miss at this years travel fair are the amount of people giving out travel brochures as they are seen everywhere.

From travel agent staff to even promotional girls all dressed up, they can be seen walking around handing out these amazing deals.

I found after walking around the entire fair, the holiday packages are so much cheaper than usual, some companies are even promoting the packages with up to 50% discount.

The catch, simple - You need to purchase your travel packages during the Malaysia Matta Fair.

I was also informed that on the last day of the MATTA Fair, Singer-Actress-Chef-Celebrity Maria Cordero will be making a special appearance at the Mayflower booth at 2.30 pm before proceeding inside to the main fair.

I must thank a goof friend Jessica for reminding me about the MATTA Fair for I would have missed it if not for her and my busy schedule.

After an exciting morning at the fair, it was time to head back. Too much info for one day so I am headed back tomorrow to check up on more deals from the MATTA Fair.

If you have been waiting for a long deserved holiday, I suggest it is time to make that trip here and buy that holiday trip you have been thinking about.

Seriously, the prices are amazing! Even for local inbound destinations in Malaysia. From beaches, islands, hill resorts to Eco tourism, you have it all there at the fair.

Trust me, after talking to some of the travel agents at the fair, they too say the prices are really mad, only at the MATTA Fair. See you there!

Also, you can read about my second day at the Kuala Lumpur Matta Fair, as I have more information and photos.
